What kind of pottery is this? And how do I take care of it?I construct my ceramic wares using a slab rolled, hand building technique. With some pieces I use a hump or slump mold technique. Each and every piece is made by hand with attention to detail. The clay body I use is a non-toxic, food safe stoneware fired at mid range. The glazes I use range from matte (generally for more decorative wares) to satin & gloss for everyday use. All glazes are lead free, non-toxic & food safe. The stoneware clay and non-toxic & lead free glazes are food, oven, dishwasher safe; although hand washing is recommended for more delicate wares. All wares are made in small batches, as such each piece will have slight variations in form and finish. Due to the nature of the hand building process, pieces are intentionally "imperfect" and not perfectly symmetrical. The hand painted glazing technique lends to variations in glaze application with visible brush strokes. This is part of the charm and aesthetic of handmade pottery.

Is each piece unique?Yes absolutley! for ceramics: All Cobb Hoelzer wares are handmade in small batches. As such each piece will have slight variations in form and finish. Due to the nature of the hand building process, pieces are intentionally "imperfect" and not perfectly symmetrical. The hand painted glazing technique lends to variations in glaze application with visible brush strokes. This is part of the charm and aesthetic of handmade pottery. My designs are inspired by the asymmetry found in organic shapes and the rawness of nature; my ceramics reflect this. for paintings: all original paintings are one of a kind and differ. Occassionally reproduction prints are offered and sold as such.

Please email to request a wholesale line sheet and we will discuss your specific project. Depending on the order, it generally takes about 8 weeks to complete both pottery and painting projects due to the nature of dry time, kiln schedules, and life in general.

What are your paintings created with? Most original paintings are on either canvas or archival paper unless otherwise noted. I typically paints with gouache which is a highly pigmented water based paint. It’s like a cross between watercolor and acrylic. In order to protect the integrity of your painting please do not expose it to the elements. Water may cause the paint to run.
